Contribute: The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer supports
product support issues, customer troubleshooting, and validation
testing. The Sr. Engineer defines test plans and supports product
implementations. The incumbent applies engineering fundamentals to
define test scenarios and troubleshoot and analyze tolerances on
design. The Sr. Engineer must have the willingness and ability to
learn, work effectively in a multi-discipline team, and demonstrate
effective problem-solving initiative, and motivation. ESSENTIAL JOB
DUTIES: Perform tool tryouts and qualify new injection molds.
Perform product and design verification tests. Initiate and
implement engineering change requests. Assist in defining test
plans/production implementations. Coordinate and drive
multi-disciplined teams to implement engineering changes and new
tooling. Review equipment and tooling performance and initiate
continuous improvements, including business cases for new capital
assets Develop and manage training programs for Molding Technicians
Assist purchasing with make vs. buy analysis, along with tool and
part procurement. Develop financial analysis and justification of
new processes and equipment and initiate capital asset requests for
such equipment. Work with schedulers and production to qualify
molds to run in multiple injection molding machines and develop
best practices and standards for qualifying parts. Conduct
repeatability and reproducibility experiments of plastic injection
molding processes to investigate manufacturing improvements related
to quality control. Record test procedures and results, both
numerical and graphical data, and recommend changes in process,
product or test method based on the data. Analyze test results
about design or rated specifications and make modifications.
Identify problems relating to the product because of the
manufacturing process and collaborate with operations and quality
to identify issues and troubleshoot. Develop plastic processing
project instructions to determine procedures, objectives, test
equipment, and the nature of technical problems. Write product work
instructions and process documents. Apply project management
process and tools to manufacturing-based projects to ensure
projects meet cost and timing objectives. Coordinate project scope,
budgets and timelines. Apply Badger Meter safety policies to all
projects and equipment. Effectively use appropriate quality
techniques to assure the highest possible product quality. Research
safe, reliable, and cost-effective equipment and processes that
assure products are produced at established safety, quality,
delivery, and cost objectives; offer suggestions for process
improvements. QUALIFICATIONS: 8 or more years of related
experience- Injection molding or plastics manufacturing knowledge
Up to 2 years of formal post-high school specialized trade,
technical school, or college Master Molder-1 certification or
equivalent Journeyman- injection molding or related plastics
discipline Knowledge of engineered resin Ability to analyze
tolerances on a design Ability to read and comprehend engineering
drawings (Preferred) Ability to apply engineering fundamentals to
test scenarios (Preferred) Ability to operate on a manufacturing
floor as applicable (Preferred) Working Conditions: Depending on
the assigned department, must complete an audiogram test
