Genesis10 is seeking a Lead Software Engineer. This role is with a manufacturing company in Lisle, IL. This is an on-site, contract-to-hire position. Fridays can be worked remotely. Application Development Leader – App Dev Transformation & Platform Modernization Overview: We are seeking a visionary and strategic Application Development Leader that leads the transformation of our current Application Development environment into a modern, API-first and automation-driven platform. This leadership role oversees a team of 20 engineers and is instrumental in evolving both our technology stack and engineering culture. Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership: Lead and inspire cross-functional engineering teams responsible for service portals and backend services, primarily built on the Pega platform. Technical Strategy: Provide architectural vision and hands-on leadership to design and implement scalable, modern solutions aligned with strategic goals. Mentorship & Collaboration: Mentor engineers and collaborate with key stakeholders (Product, Business, and other Technology teams) to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions. Modernization Initiatives: Drive initiatives focused on automation, API-first development, microservices architecture, CI/CD, and DevOps practices. Solution Delivery: Translate high-level business requirements into robust technical designs, ensuring alignment with user and business needs. Hiring & Team Building: Contribute to the hiring process by shaping interview questions and identifying high-caliber engineering talent. Culture & Best Practices: Champion the evolution of engineering culture, focusing on quality, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing. Requirements: Leadership Experience: Proven experience managing and scaling engineering teams (ideally 10–20 engineers) within complex, software-led environments. Platform Development: Experience building customer-facing platforms or service portals, preferably in commercial or enterprise domains. Technical Acumen: Strong software architecture and design skills, with the ability to guide teams on technical direction and long-term planning. Platform Knowledge: Familiarity with Pega or other low-code platforms is a plus; the ideal candidate can work within and beyond platform constraints. Modern Engineering Practices: Expertise in modern development paradigms including API design, automation, microservices, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines. Hands-On Expertise: Proficiency in at least one major programming language such as Java, .NET, Objective-C, Python, or similar. Communication & Influence: Excellent communication and decision-making skills, capable of articulating and defending technical strategies with both technical and non-technical audiences.
