Job Description:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Conducts internal/external
investigations and surveillances of persons alleged to have
violated criminal law. Carries out investigations of employee rule,
regulation, and policy violations. Investigations may be done with
local, state or federal law enforcement agencies. Collects crime
data and conducts analysis using a variety of tools. Produces
reports for management regarding crime stats and makes
recommendations for improving overall Authority security. Acts as
Authority’s agent during civil and criminal court proceedings for
security matters. Participate in training programs, seminars and
meetings to heighten investigative expertise. Performs related
duties as assigned. MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting to this

Coordinating investigations with local law enforcement.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Bachelor degree in Criminal
Justice or a related field and five (5) years investigative
experience, or an Associate Degree with ten (10) years
investigative experience or an equivalent combination of education
and experience relating to this position. Must possess a valid
Illinois driver's license. Extensive previous experience (10 years)
in law enforcement & performing investigations in the Chicago
Metropolitan Area strongly preferred. Must have left agency in good
standing with agency issued credentials. Previous experience in
crime data analytics preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Requires
remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time and
constantly operating a computer and other office productivity
machinery. Demands include extensive moving, sometimes on rocks and
on narrow catwalks, and ascending/descending structures (such as
onto trains and back down and up and down ladders of various
sizes). Must wear applicable restrictive personal protective
equipment. Service Area Requirement: Exempt (Non-Union) employees
must live within the boundaries of the CTA Statutory Service Area
either at the time of employment or within 6 months of beginning
employment at CTA. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Advanced
knowledge of the Authority’s operations, rules and regulations
coupled with investigative background knowledge to investigate
wrongdoing and criminal actions. Detailed knowledge of Chicago
Police Department (CPD) databases. Detailed knowledge of COMPSTAT
principles and processes. General knowledge of current security
camera systems, technology, and user interface. Good oral and
written communications skills and organizational skills. Good
interpersonal skills in dealing with external groups and/or
organizations. Good customer service skills. Good computer skills.
Ability to work independently. Ability to work with sensitive
information while maintaining strict confidentiality. Working
knowledge of accident investigation best practices. Ability to work
collaboratively with others and other departments. WORKING
CONDITIONS May be required to work various extended or irregular
hours (including afternoon, night, or weekend shifts) in order to
meet project deadlines or respond to CTA emergencies. Must be
available to respond to calls or email inquiries outside regular
work hours. Rotating work schedule to ensure adequate coverage at
all times and throughout the system. General office environment.
Required to travel to various CTA, vendor, and transit property
locations. Subject to weather conditions when evaluating the
provision of service. Subject to normal garage/shop hazards such as
noise, dust, grease, moving vehicles, etc. when visiting field
locations. Conditions also include working at extreme heights;
working near electrified third rail; working in subway tunnels with
limited clearance, visibility etc. EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, AND MATERIALS
