Job Description:
Job Summary: The SMT Operator will assist in the manufacturing
of printed circuit boards, product assemblies, and report to the
operations manager. This person will work with a small team to
perform assembly of electronic components that includes
preparation, placement and installation using a modern SMT line.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Programming and
maintenance of the SMT assembly line and any related equipment. •
Perform all facets of surface mount assembly. • Primary
responsibility for line operation including screen printer, pick
and place machine, and reflow oven, Automatic Optical Inspection
machine, and ancillary SMT line equipment. • Operate the equipment,
including understanding the sequence of events, the control panel,
and indicators, and understanding how to replenish supplies and
components per Standard Operating Procedures • Set-up of the
equipment, and maintain operation, which includes machine
adjustments and ability to perform set-up (feeder loading and
changing) per the manufacturing instructions and Standard Operating
Procedures • Ownership of general equipment cleaning and upkeep per
the Standard Operating Procedures • Manual assembly of electronic
components including some complex part installations, custom specs
and quality standards. • Perform hand soldering, inspection, and
rework, SMT, mixed assemblies and custom parts as per Engineering
specifications and IPC workmanship standards. • Component
preparation, placement, and installation. • Be able to work on
various aspects of the manufacturing operations. • Participate in
training and certification programs to ensure job knowledge and
skills set. Qualifications, Skill, and Attributes • Knowledge in
printed circuit board related processes – soldering, cleaning, and
repairing • Specialized SMT knowledge is ideal • Hands on
manufacturing skills such as manual soldering • Ability to read and
to work from schematics, process sheets, a sample or other work
instructions • Be able to work independently with minimal
supervision • Comply with all department and company rules •
Working with extremely small parts using a microscope and small
hand tools • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality •
Technical communication skills – must be able to interface with
engineering and purchasing • Use hand, air, and power tools •
Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment,
knowledge of standards in electronic components handling
preferred
