Job Description
John Crane located in Crystal Lake IL is currently recruiting for a
Manufacturing/Materials Engineer. This Engineer will support the
strategic growth of the Ceramic/Composite Materials production
lines by leading the integration of new and updated technologies
(equipment & materials) to our manufacturing process. Use some
independent evaluation, selection, and application of standard
engineering techniques and procedures. We need candidates that have
experience with Carbon, Ceramics and other compound materials.

Duties & Responsibilities
* Evaluate feasibility of new materials & production technologies
with regards to manufacturing, technical, quality and cost
advantages. Review and approve new design concepts.
* Lead the integration of new technologies into the production
environment.
* Provide comprehensive engineering leadership and direction in
developing new products in carbon, ceramic & composite
materials.
* Provide detail engineering work and computer program analysis as
required.
* Verify material characteristics and that factory settings/testing
are in compliance with applicable industry standards (e.g. ASTM and
API) and Code requirements.
* Investigate manufacturing difficulties and initiate corrective
action.
* Confer with vendors and suppliers regarding material or tooling
availability, information, quotes, delivery dates, completion of
projects, and new products and designs.
* Interface with all departments, subcontractors, and suppliers to
ensure requirements, specifications and standards are met and
maintained.
* Review and approve solutions and responses to major field
issues
* developing, modifying, testing, and evaluating materials
* providing technical advice about the suitability of materials
* diagnosing faults
* overseeing operational quality control processes

The Individual
* BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Material
Properties
* 5 years' experience in product development, design, application,
and service.
* Experience in materials analysis & development strongly
preferred.
* Experience in specifying, procuring & implementing new and
updated industrial equipment strongly preferred.
* Understanding of ASTM standards, API standards, ANSI standards
and/or other international standards.
* Excellent communication skills, self-motivated sense of urgency,
personable and well organized.
* Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Experience with ERP Systems
