SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Manager of Recreation Facilities, the
part-time building Custodian/Maintenance is responsible for the
general upkeep and maintenance of Recreation facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience in general custodial maintenance work
- Flexible schedule, available to work weekdays, weekends and
holidays as assigned
- Must be 18 years or older
- Valid driver's license/vehicle insurance
- Have clear communication skills
- Ability to work independently with general direction from
immediate supervisor
- Respond to routine customer inquiries regarding services of the
district
- Calmness under pressure and maintain records in timely and
accurate mode
- Have sound practical judgment of priorities.
- Ability to cooperate with and interpret Park District
philosophies in relation to governmental, public and private groups
and agencies and the general public
- Ability to demonstrate leadership qualities to perform required
work.
- Capacity to be self-motivated and achieve goals with minimal
supervision or direction
- Current CPR/AED Certification
- Valid drivers license and current vehicle insurance ESSENTIAL
FUNCATIONS
- Cleans and maintains all building areas and furnishings as
assigned
- Sets up equipment and furnishings for special events and
district programs
- Clean buildings according to the assigned cleaning check
list
- Conduct monthly preventative maintenance schedule as assigned
(i.e. table/chair inspections and cleaning, window inspections and
cleaning, etc.)
- Care of premises immediately surrounding recreation
buildings
- Ability to minor building repairs
- Must exercise safe work habits and follow the prescribed
instructions on all cleaning chemicals that are used. Follow the
M.S.D.S. sheets
- Conduct self-according to the policies and procedures as
established by the park district
- Participate in park district safety and training program to
ensure that work performed and services provided are implemented in
a safe manner. MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
- Attend meetings when requested

PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS
- Must be in condition adequate to conduct onsite inspection of
park district facilities and operations
- Must be able to perform manual labor with varying degrees of
physical exertion
- May frequently be required to walk, sit, talk and hear
- May frequently be required to use hands and/or fingers, handle
feel or operate objects, tools, or control; and reach with hands
and arms.
- May occasionally be required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel,
crouch or crawl
- May occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50
pounds without assistance, over 50 pounds with assistance

- Occasionally exposed to elevated noise levels produced by large

- Occasionally at job sites where dust, pollen, molds etc. may be

Worker must be able to:
- Train and/or pass on other prudent safety and other work
related practices to co- workers
- Follow step-by-step procedures and obtain appropriate end
results

- Project a positive image and neat appearance to visitors of the
park district If at any time during the course of employment the
